6th day of web-building

So tonight, I started watching the video tutorials on Agent Evolution.

I finally figured out my menu and homepage.

As for getting my IDX plugged in, that is sorta overwhelming me.

I may focus on getting the homepage slider done first.

Day 2 of Web Building - Evening Shift

27 May 2014

I was playing around with my website and I uploaded an Evergreen Real Estate Market Update video!
Feeling pretty accomplished.

I also posted a testimonial video.

It is 10:05pm, I did this just this past hour. So many ins and outs to wordpress.

Did a little bit more playing.

NOTE FOR NEXT TIME:

Use built in placeholders
Open AE Must See Demo
Review AE get started page

Still day 2 of web building, afternoon shift!

4:45pm

Ok, finally back to my pc.

I decided I will get a decent point and shoot camera with zoom so I can take pictures for the blog. I will still use a few of the stockphotos from the photographer I discovered online.

I am thinking the Canon wide lens.. $229.

5:48pm

Received confirmation of permission and license to use photos I just ordered for the blog! I feel so legit doing it this way!! Downloaded....

Day 2 of Web building

27May 2014

It is a new day... 8:15am

So I was gearing up to dive into the world of tech to set up my wordpress site on my new server.... Last time I did this, it took many brain neurons and a chunk of times.

Well guess what? Wordpress was already set up when I logged into MT!! It was like Christmas!

Ok, so I am in the WP dashboard eager to install my themes....... Which I did from AE. But the parent theme was not installed (Genesis)....... so now I am off to support land

IT WAS LIKE CHRISTMAS AGAIN!!

I turns out, all I had to do was install the genesis theme (framework) just like I did a minute ago!!

I guess because I hosted my first wordpress site with GO DADDY and it was not WP ready so I was clicking here and there (FTP/etc)....

Ok, what now?

Upload pics!!

9:37am

For the last hour, I've been playing around with the customization - menus, headers, titles, sub-pages. I understand why the install and set up of a page can be time consuming. My head spins a bit but I know I will be able to figure it out.

Ok, going to take a break and come back to this shortly.

Photos I will be ordering: (for my reference)

usca51191
usca50997
usca35060
usca 51312
usca 9476

11:13am

Got sidetracked with:
Seller/Buyer tasks (15 minutes)
picking out photos to purchase (20 minutes)
phone calls (8 minutes)
amazon shopping (10 minutes)

I decided I will visit the INTEL museum as well as the APPLE campus and take photos as content for the blog. I think it will tie in nicely with "Silicon Valley" Real Estate

Day 1 - Web Build Day

Finally, the theme websites I had been researching was on sale. All 8 themes plus future themes for $199. This was through Agent Evolution.

Another theme I had purchased was from Pretty Darn Cute Designs. I will use for my personal blog.

I have also decided to purchase quality stock photos of my general area. I will also invest in a good zooming camera to photograph around town for the blog.

A couple of weeks ago I signed up for the MLS IDX-Wordpress real estate theme. The design was too simple for me.

Pauline got us a general real estate website through Property Minder. Lots of useful tools here so I think it is worth holding on to for a while. It will be more of a static website.

Now I am deciding on a webhost. Shared hosting being the more economical but there are hostings specifically for wordpress blogs.

I decided on MT - Media Temple as it is $29/month plus 3 wordpress sites. I registered: EvergreenAalisPlatinumProperties.com
$44 with url and host for the first charge

Some tasks that still need to be done:

Pick out stock photos and email photographer
Play with AE themes and add IDX.
Figure out landing page for Market Snapshot (Top Producer)
Play with Clarus Market Metric and embed into blog.
Research Altos data and embed into blog.
Niche:
     Evergreen Real Estate
     Basking Ridge Real Estate
     Communication Hill Real Estate
     Evergreen Business Owners and Businesses

I also am trying out Market Video from Terradatum. $49/month for 5 area market stats video.

Here is a sample using Santa Clara County.

It's a wrap, DAY 1 - Ballen Method

Ballen hands on training plus access to the genius also known as Lori Ballen....

First day of the Ballen method and my brain neurons or neutrons are in mental exhaustion but in a geek-tech bliss way.

First OMG moment - properly setting up Google Chrome bookmarks with Lori's starred bookmarks.

Second OMG moment - the MINDMAP.....! The Hub being the launch pad to other blogs, websites, implementing social media and press releases........ and not to mention, SEO!!

Third OMG moment - I knew that online marketing was very involved but I had managed to convince myself that it is only complicated to me.......... as it turns out, it DOES require work and effort and yes, I can learn this.

Favorite moment - Lori googling Mesquite keywords and saying, ehh, we can get you up there, easy! Translation: yep, I too can get up there, easy!

I woke up today around 4am and by 6:30am, I was being whisked away from San Jose/Silicon Valley to the desert oasis of Las Vegas. While my room was not yet ready at the Red Rock Hotel, I was able to pre-register and had access to the spa.

The hotel smelled wonderful! The spa smelled wonderful! I soaked for a little bit in the hot tub, did a quick cool plunge, then settled into a couch for a 5 minute catnap.
